Job Description

1.  JOB TITLE Venue Sales Executive

2.  MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB

The Venue Sales Executive will be responsible for planning and delivering a sales strategy to deliver new business to Stoneleigh Park as a venue and achieve the budgeted income targets.
This will include all new business sales for all aspects of events, conferences, exhibitions and other related activities at Stoneleigh Park, incorporating all internal and external letting space and wider resources and facilities to both internal and external business clients.
Establishing and maintaining an emphasis on “one team”, working with other managers to form a one stop shop approach, in order to generate income to core fund the Society as a charity.
From time to time to assist with exhibition stand sales for RASE events which will include cold calling potential exhibitors, sponsors or partners.

4. DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

      Tasks/activities/performance

  • Compile, with the Business Development Director and Assistant Director Commercial Events, a sales campaign to deliver new business revenue in line with budget targets for Stoneleigh Park
  • Deliver the sales campaign via telesales, client visits and other proactive means to potential new clients or lapsed clients.
  • Identify prospect client to target and sell benefits of Stoneleigh Park as a venue
  • Build knowledge of the industry sectors in order to capitalise on opportunities in a constantly changing market
  • Maintain accurate and up to date sales records and provide regular revenue vs target reports as required by the Business Development Director, the Assistant Director Commercial Events and the RASE executive.
  • Work with the Marketing Executive, Venue Event Managers and the Assistant Director Commercial Events to identify marketing tools required to help realise the sales campaign and achieve income targets.
  • Keep up to date on the industry and help identify opportunities to expand and develop Stoneleigh Park’s offer.
  • Carry out general office duties efficiently, i.e. letter writing, producing mailings, database management.
  • Assist on other shows and events as required.
  • Attend competitor events thereby maintaining relationships, expanding the database and prospecting for new business.
  • Resolve exhibitor conflicts whilst on the telephone and on site.
  • Maintain a professional attitude with regard to all Society matters and at all times answer or re-direct incoming enquiries.
  • Liaise with Finance dept to assist in credit control.
  • Work on site during the build up of the events, event days and during the break down of the events, liaising with exhibitors face to face.

Key Objectives

  • To achieve budgeted income for delivering new business to Stoneleigh Park in line with the business plan agreed by the executive.

Team/managerial/supervisory

  • To work with others in the team, specifically the Venue Event Managers to deliver clients with comprehensive and competitive packages to meet their needs, delivering to the highest possible standards, controlling costs and achieving income targets.
  • Provide regular reports as required by line managers and executive on sales progress against target and help identify when action may need to be taken to protect the bottom line.

  • Work with all internal teams to enable the Society to capitalise on all opportunities which may arise and contribute to the achievement of overall Society objectives.

  • Maintain and improve competencies through continuous professional development. Participate fully in the Society programme for staff appraisal, review and development, including training
  • Work collaboratively with staff across RASE and other partner and like minded organisations.
  • Work to administration, communication, environmental, health and safety protocols and policies to ensure that organisational systems and procedures are implemented.
  • Abide by organisational policies, codes of conduct and practice as described in the Staff Handbook and on the RASE Intranet.

  • Treat with confidentiality any personal, private or sensitive information about individual organisations and or schemes or staff etc.
  • Carry out other associated duties as may arise, develop or be assigned in line with the broad remit of the post.

6. PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Essential

  • A highly motivated and enthusiastic sales professional
  • Minimum 2 years sales experience, ideally from hotel, conference, event or exhibition sales in a business to business environment
  • Demonstrable experience of commercial income generation and financial acumen.
  • Excellent telesales skills
  • Creativity and initiative in a sales environment
  • Experience of maintaining a database of existing and potential clients
  • Experience of reporting sales figures and understanding revenue streams
  • Proven history of building and managing customer relations with a high level of customer care
  • Diplomacy and tact
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Energetic team player who is self motivated
  • Ability to work independently when necessary
  • Working calmly under pressure with attention to detail
  • Computer literate – Microsoft packages, Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point etc

Desirable

  • Appreciation of the needs of the rural sector
